Our local MP, Kit Malthouse showed his support for Small Business Saturday this weekend as he dropped into various small businesses in Andover. Small Business Saturday now held every year on the first Saturday of December to coincide with the busiest shopping day of the year, aims to encourage customers to stay local and support small businesses in their communities.
Kit said: "Saturday was a busy day in Andover and across the constituency. Supporting our small businesses is important all year round and a subject close to my heart, but focussing on them for just one day a year is vital. This year Andover Town Centre Partnership, along with the Federation of Small Businesses and Test Valley Borough Council really made a huge effort to attract as many people as possible into the town centre. Performers and musicians highlighted a really great market day and all the shops I popped into were buzzing. From David Mellor Jewellers to the new Charlie’s on the upper High Street and all the other independent retailers in between, I hope the day kicks of a great Christmas season for them all.
